Michele De Lucchi (1951)

Michele De Lucchi began his carrer as an industrial designer, working for wellknown Italian design companies such as Artemide, Olivetti and Kartell. But is was his association with the Milan-based Memphis group, led by Ettore Sottsass, that won him wider recognition in the 1980's.

A beatiful working object, the Tolomeo's obvious antecedent is the jointed desk lamp, here updated in lightweight brushed and polished aluminum. A neat feature is the hole pierced at the rear of the shade; the ribbed base provides another example of attention to detail.
